JOB SUMMARY: 

The Network Engineer is engaged in the administration, operation, monitoring, support and maintenance of the local area network (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), servers, SANs, VMWare, Active Directory, Exchange and other networking devices. Assists in the design, configuration and performance monitoring of these systems. Provides tier three level support for all OS, Server and workstation applications. Promotes and practices adherence to Information Security policies and best practices.

This role will be located on-site at the Chattanooga Corporate Headquarters location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plans, coordinates and installs hardware (e.g. LAN/WAN, Server) and software.

  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots various networking devices including switches, routers, network security devices, load balancers, wireless controllers and access points.

  • Performs LAN/WAN engineering of firewalls, routers and switches. Designs, maintains and modifies IP routing and VLAN topologies.

  • Provides maintenance/support for Internet/WAN, Firewalls, DMZ, DNS, NAT, VoIP, Policies, Routing and ACLs.

  • Implement, tune and maintain VMware and SANs solutions; including VMware and vSphere for server consolidation and virtualization. Monitor and trouble shoot system performance within the VMware environment.

  • Provides support of the LAN, MS Domain and related services such as Active Directory, MS Server products, Exchange, IIS, SQL and other enterprise applications.

  • Resolves and/or coordinates the resolution of infrastructure problems or malfunctions.

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of all software and hardware maintenance, upgrades, repairs, or replacements to Network LAN/WAN servers.

  • Maintains the integrity of the infrastructure hardware and software through preventative maintenance practices and security implementations.

  • Ensures reliability, performance, recoverability and security of the infrastructure components, operating systems and other applications.

  • Monitors network resources and carriers to ensure availability and performance.

  • Participates in the disaster recovery planning and simulations.

  • Provides technical recommendations to improve network performance, security and support business requirements. Evaluates new products and emerging technologies.

  • Periodically assists in the development of Information Security procedures and processes as needed.

  • Maintain knowledge of branch operations by completing Deposit Regulation and Product and Service Certification courses.

  • Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 


  • Three to five years of experience in a related field, with a preference for at least two years of experience in WAN connections.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Equivalent experience and relevant IT certifications (such as Microsoft MCSE) may substitute for educational requirements.

  • Ability to communicate with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.

  • Proficiency in operating computer equipment and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and internal databases for record-keeping and communication.
