The Automation Engineer is a technical expert who participates in project planning and installations, embraces continuous improvement, and is dedicated to exceptional quality and customer service. This role involves executing installations of new systems and modifying, upgrading, and expanding existing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and modify PLC programs (Allen Bradley and Modicon) for production.
Enhance manufacturing profitability through productivity improvements, waste reduction, and safety enhancements.
Create and modify HMI programs using FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, and Vijeo.
Design automation systems for industrial tasks.
Research and apply sensors, vision systems, communication technologies, and control devices.
Select materials for mechatronic system designs and upgrade existing devices with mechatronic elements.
Analyze and improve development or manufacturing procedures.
Develop data records and mapping for equipment communications.
Create schematic diagrams and layout drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
Coordinate projects, manage schedules and budgets, and interface with customers.
Provide work instructions, training, and design systems to sustain improvements.
Maintain technical project files and communicate design information effectively with manufacturing personnel.
Test design solutions and publish test results.
Install and test repaired equipment, diagnose malfunctions, and continuously improve systems.
Attend industry-related training and grow in industry knowledge.
Report food safety issues to authorized personnel.
Maintain task schedules and resolve problems with engineering staff.
Backup all control-related programs.
Qualifications:
Five years of experience in PLC, HMI, and motor control systems development, installation, and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various Windows operating systems.
Valid passport or ability to obtain one within three months of hire.
Skills and Abilities:
Specialized training in PLC and machine control.
Knowledge of HMI object types, screen layouts, animation, alarms, and scripting.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and IEC codes.
Proficiency in Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs and Unity software, Rockwell/Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs and FactoryTalk Studio 5000, Wonderware software, and AutoCAD Electrical.
Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
Flexibility to work hours that meet project deadlines.
