Casting Process Engineer with basic knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys. This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties.
Essential duties & responsibilities
The essential functions of the job include the following:
Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirements
Material related non-conformance assessments and dispositions
Root cause analysis
Gas turbine material selection: Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine. This includes:
Forgings, sheet metal, plate, bar
Responsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisions
Other duties as assigned
Education & Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related field
Skills/Experience
Experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred
Experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defects
Available for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as needed
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames
Process and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce
Strong written and oral communication skills
