The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking multiple openings for Clinical Dietitian I to use Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned.
Provides quality patient care including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for patient.
Educates students with on-the-job training. Evaluates students. Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed.
Assesses nutrition status and instructs/counsels patient on appropriate diet.
Participate as part of the medical team concerning problems affecting patients' food habits and needs and participate in health team rounds concerning patient care.
Assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees.
Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and to control or reduce costs.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
Functional supervision is exercised over Diet Clerks
Assists other dietitians as needed.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
A Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certifications
Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting
Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
