TheUniversity of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 50%-100% Paramedic to work in the Urology Clinic. Under direct supervision of a Nurse Manager or designee, assists with patient care services.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists clinical team in the delivery of patient care, with regard to patient condition and age
Performs patient care related to vital signs, lab draws, assisting with minor procedures, in-clinic treatments, point of care testing and other duties as assigned
Under the direction of a medical doctor, registered nurse, or physician assistant administers routine oral, rectal, sublingual, nasal, topical, inhalation, and injectable medications not requiring a high level of skill or nursing judgment
Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs
Notifies Nurse Manager/designee of any pertinent changes in patient condition or disposition; report unusual incidents, complaints or concerns to Nurse Manager or designee, as appropriate
Performs related and routine clerical tasks pursuant to performing the aforementioned duties
Clinic procedure and other clinic duties will be assigned.

Percent of Time: 50%-100%
Schedule: Variable days Mon-Fri between the hours of 0800-1700. No weekends or holidays.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Graduation from high school, and
Current paramedic certification by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and
Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association, and
Current course completion card in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association
Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum one (1) year advanced life support field experience as an emergency response paramedic, or current ER experience with a history of advanced life support field experience.
