General Summary
Granite Construction is seeking a Distributor Driver/Boot Truck Operator to work at one of our Reno/Sparks facilities. The Distributor Driver is responsible for heating and laying prime to prep jobsite for paving crew. Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Prime job site for paving crew
Heat and lay prime
Responsible for having all permits when transporting all oversized equipment.
Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
Prepares receipts for load picked up.
Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
May load and unload truck.
May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
Education
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Certification
License required.
Work Experience
1 to 3 yrs. experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Workers should be able to:
Read and interpret road maps
Practice good safety habits
Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
Judge distances and weights accurately
Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
Physically, workers must be able to:
Stoop, bend, and crouch
Use hands, arms, and legs fully
See well (either naturally or with correction)
Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
