Job Description:

THE TOWN OF ORANGE, VIRGINIA is currently accepting resumes for a

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING. 

Salary:  Range $86,453-$124,689.

  Starting salary DOQ + benefits. 

Direct and manage the department, report to the Town Manager and serve as staff to the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.  Responsibilities include:  administer, interpret, enforce, and amend the Town’s Zoning Ordinance; prepare staff reports and recommendations for the Town Manager, Town Council, and the Planning Commission; provide a responsive customer service program.  Position also includes being a leader in the community planning activities and establishing a positive working relationship with the business community.  Position requires a degree in urban planning or related field, 5 years experience in public sector planning and zoning, experience in ordinance enforcement, site plan review, GIS, working with citizen groups and ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.  The Town adopted a hybrid Euclidian form based type zoning code and this position will be responsible for interpreting and guiding the implementation of this code.  The applicant would have the statutory title of zoning administrator and subdivision agent.
