Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer will architect, design, and implement advanced Smart Building control solutions for clients. This role is crucial in evaluating and designing retrofit controls that offer significant ROI opportunities. The Systems Engineer will develop and document designs, collaborate with multiple departments, and ensure successful project installations. Responsibilities include integrating various building control systems, leveraging HVAC/lighting and building automation knowledge, and developing expertise in our client's business processes and tools.
Essential Job Functions:
Collaborate with the SBC Manager, Systems Engineering, and other engineers to design and develop control systems.
Draft and develop technical requirements for SBC programs and projects.
Program BMS primary and field controllers.
Develop and program BMS user interfaces.
Assist in developing controls proposals with the Customer Solutions Group.
Maintain a library of standards for national account customers.
Perform systems integrations using various protocols.
Ensure technologies are integrated and compliant with applicable standards.
Communicate results to the Controls Manager, Systems Engineering, and other relevant parties.
Work collaboratively with a team of Controls personnel.
Set high standards aligning with organizational goals.
Navigate Smart Building Industry trends to position our client advantageously.
Assist internal and external IT networking teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of IT networks, systems, and protocols.
Technical proficiency in A/C and low voltage D/C electrical circuits.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
Familiarity with creating technical shop drawings, including riser diagrams.
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of industry best practices.
Superior knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and hardware systems.
Programming proficiency with Niagara-based systems, including N4.
Additional Skills and Abilities
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting.
Experience integrating computer programs.
Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
Problem-solving experience.
Curiosity and initiative in learning.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Niagara software and coding languages such as JavaScript and HTML.
Experience with AutoCAD and similar programs for creating shop drawings.
Knowledge of LED lighting, HVAC, and building management system (BMS) operations.
5+ years as a system engineer or integrator with experience in at least one controls platform.
5+ years in the building automation systems industry.
5+ years of HVAC Automation/Controls Engineering or Data Analytics experience.
Expertise in leveraging IoT concepts and technology, building automation systems, and database programming.
