Responsibilities
The survey instrument operator uses a variety of land survey instruments to support a crew in their daily operations
Assists in the completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief
Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments of land survey equipment. E.g. tripods, tribrachs, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems
Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
Complete neat and orderly field notes for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief
Keeps Crew Chief informed of problems and progress
Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies
Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools and vehicle
Follow company safety procedures for land survey operations
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Possession of a valid, current driver’s license
One year industry experience
Knowledgeable in the principles and performance of basic types of surveys, survey computations, and field operations
Ability to work continually outside in all types of weather conditions and terrain
Ability to work out of town, in remote locations, for extended periods of time
