Position Summary:
Henderson State University Department of Advanced Instructional Studies and Special Education announces a full-time position available in the Teachers College to begin August 2025.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have:
A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate instruction;
Experience in program review and program development;
Evidence of excellence in teaching and the use of creative/innovative pedagogies;
The ability to teach online;
Knowledge of current trends in Special Education;
A commitment to research and scholarly activities.
Candidates will supervise students in the clinical setting, continuing our existing positive relationships with the teachers and principals at local K-12 schools.
Candidates may also teach courses on the Hot Springs campus in the evening, face-to-face, and hybrid.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to teach a broad range of special education courses, including teaching methods courses for early childhood and K-12.
Demonstrated ability to teach using multiple formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online, blended, and face-to-face, sometimes using Zoom and face-to-face at the same time for the same class to reach remote students.
Excellent understanding of American educational systems and classrooms.
Candidates should have practical interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including working collaboratively with colleagues and students.
Organizational, human relations and technological skills are expected.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a master's degree or doctorate (preferred) in education or related areas from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Experience teaching in special education is required, and licensure (or the qualifications for licensure) is desirable.
Experience teaching, advising, and supervising education students at the undergraduate and graduate levels desired.
