Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in the Greater Philadelphia area to join the Construction Services Department as a Rail Construction Specialist. This position will provide key technical support with estimating, constructability, scheduling, and value engineering for rail design and construction projects.
Responsibilities
Provide detailed constructability, estimating, and scheduling support related to constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, change order review, programmatic estimates, risk assessments and project control services.
Develop and/or review cost estimates and CPM schedules during any stage of design development.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for rail designs for internal and external customers. Additionally, work within heavy highway, bridge, marine, and transit departments in the same capacity as necessary.
Support the Practice Leader in the management of constructability and value engineering reviews in relation to rail projects involving design and construction of rail facilities as well as preparing scopes of work, conducting quality control reviews, and participating in lead roles in business development including proposal preparation and interviews.
Maintain proper documentation for all estimates, schedules, constructability reviews.
Present deliverables to internal and external clients.
Update and maintain database and computer-based office libraries.
Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field is required.
10 to 15 years of experience in the contracting and construction management of rail projects along with at least 5 years of construction contractor experience.
Experience in heavy highway, bridge, marine and transit projects a plus.
Previous experience working on SEPTA, NJ Transit, Amtrak, or other rail and transit agency is preferred.
Expertise in the Track/Civil discipline demonstrating a comprehensive. understanding of construction, cost estimating and budgeting of track related projects.
PE license is preferred.
Familiar with estimating and scheduling software.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills.
English language skills, written and verbal, are required in this role.
Possess basic math skills necessary to perform computations for length, area and volume.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and procedures.
