The Director of Business Intelligence and Decision Science will provide both leadership and strategic guidance informed by research, product analytics, and marketing activities to investigate business questions and generate insights to drive improvement for account acquisition, revenue generation, and end-user engagement and retention. This role will lead a team of data scientists, and business analysts focused on leading business and financial reporting, a/b testing, predictive analytics and machine learning & AI research and development to drive customer acquisition, activation, engagement, and business growth. In this role, you’ll be a thought partner and will work closely with the leaders of all functions in the business: sales, business development, finance, operations and account management, product management, and engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team for a SaaS organization, developing team members technical and non-technical skills, and leveraging mature infrastructure to iterate, test and ultimately drive growth over time.

In this Role You Will:

  • Experience leading teams exploring business questions – account and customer churn, cross-sell analyses, renewal analyses and exploring triggers and pain points in the customer journey
  • Leverage market intelligence, product performance, marketing analytics, and customer insights to support product and product marketing leaders in developing long-term product strategies for acquisition and activation
  • Experience leading sound A/B testing programs that measurably drive business outcomes - experience in growth marketing and business or product strategy, ideally in a SaaS environment preferred
  • Establish a roadmap for strategies to target opportunities, analyze failures and areas inform operations, product development, and future research efforts to enhance acquisition, activation and referral
  • Drive growth research to validate and experiment messaging/use cases to help alpha and beta product refinements
  • Improve customer engagement by leveraging content through machine learning models, analytics and other tools
  • Lead the development of frameworks for deploying and evaluating machine learning models in production
  • Find and implement creative, unconventional and cost-efficient channels to build customer base and grow the adoption of the product – e.g. segmentation of messaging to test growth loops and engineering changes in the product to shape the product to self-grow
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership in product to ensure our platform has the most efficient tools, systems, and processes to drive sustainable growth
  • Experience working closely with partners across the company to help drive our product-led growth strategy to directly impact customer acquisition, retention, and revenue
  • Manage implementation of strategic plans for business intelligence and collaborate across the organization to develop and implement large-scale reporting solutions and business insights
  • Experience working with agile data engineering teams, design, research, customer support, and third parties across many different locations and time zones
  • Experience ideating on experimentation of product to support enhancements for product management and engineering teams to scoping, testing, and executing solutions in a production environment
  • Drive adoption of predictive analytics best practices within the team and find ways to improve effectiveness through the introduction of tools and processes
  • Advocate for testing and learning throughout the organization, including helping to establish methodologies for measuring performance of tests
  • Mentor, guide, and develop data scientists and analysts within the team

Core Competencies and Experience:

  • Ability to independently assess challenges and creatively problem solve
  • Advanced understanding about how businesses operate and make decisions
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a cross-functional team
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, effective time management and ability to work across all levels of the company
  • Understanding of models used in business environments such as those for customer churn and retention, cross-sell/upsell, onsite search, recommendations, incrementality modeling and testing, marketing mix modeling, and personalization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative field; Masters or higher degree preferred
  • 7-9 years of experience in predictive analytics or equivalent, including practical experience with various machine learning techniques and statistical modeling to examine why a piece of content, message or product experience is driving growth
  • Extensive experience in leading cross functional projects, building consensus and leading data enablement conversations
  • Experience with customer data pipeline management systems like Hightouch, Segment or Rudderstack
  • Legal right to work in the United States
