Job Summary
The production lead will lead a team completing plastic extrusion production of raw materials into finished goods. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment, maintaining product quality, and leading a team of operators and technicians. Your primary goal will be to ensure the shift meets production targets while adhering to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. There is a $1000 Sign on Bonus. The first $500 is given after 3 months of employment; the remaining $500 is given after 6 months of employment.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Bay to ensure smooth and efficient operation
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance as needed
Ensure that equipment is properly set up, maintained, and operated according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance with the maintenance team
Assist supervisor with the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
Assist supervisor with staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities
Provide and facilitate effective communication and information flow with other departments
Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
Regular engagement with Quality Control in the implementation and enforcement of quality control procedures to ensure that fittings meet the required specifications and standards
Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify product quality and address any non-conformities
Maintain housekeeping according to 5S standards
Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies
Conduct regular safety inspections, provide training on safe work practices, and address any safety concerns promptly
Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively, identify training needs and organize relevant training programs
Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment maintenance, and quality control results
Generate reports on production metrics, efficiency, and quality performance
Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements
Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, evaluate new technologies, and optimize material utilization
Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational training in manufacturing, mechanical or related field is preferred
Proven experience in manufacturing or a similar role within the plastics industry
Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards in the manufacturing industry
Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficient computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting
Forklift certification a plus
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
Compensation
The hourly pay rate is $25-$30/hr.
