Position Summary
Possesses full proficiency in assigned area. Works under moderate supervision. Maintains and services mechanical equipment, machinery, and components and performs skilled repairs of mechanical, electrical, and building systems and equipment. Conducts periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair. Identifies parts needed for replacement and places orders as necessary. Completes all work in accordance with established safety procedures. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Perform preventive maintenance duties and make repairs and modifications to production equipment in line with cGMP. Respond in a timely manner to demand maintenance calls, troubleshoot existing systems and installations. Assist with maintaining detailed maintenance records and parts inventory through the effective use of company CMMS. Constantly improve skill level in production maintenance to keep up with advances in technology and automation in the production processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Make repairs or modifications to production equipment utilizing the following skills: read pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics; utilize basic electronic test equipment (volt/ohm and amp meter); pneumatics and electrical controls, pipefitting, welding, and mechanics.
•Assist with installation checkout, and start-up of new or modified plant production equipment.
•Order maintenance machine parts. Track and turn in repair parts.
•Assist Maintenance Supervisor or Manager with facts and details for formal investigations.
•Upload and download PLC programs.
•Record all downtime on the appropriate form for reporting to Maintenance Supervisor.
•Train other mechanics as requested, must be a qualified fellow employee (QFE).
•Maintain plant tools and toolboxes in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
•Adhere to cGMP guidelines, SOP's, and plant policies/rules.
•Recognize problem trends and propose solutions. Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form the nature of the problem and proposed resolutions.
Knowledge & Skills
•Well-rounded troubleshooter, participate in project teams as a technical resource, give input into writing trouble shooting guides; able to communicate system knowledge to other mechanics.
•Works under moderate supervision.
•Assists in training new/current employees with respect to documented procedures.
•Must be able to use tools such as, but not limited to, voltmeters, amp meters VPU's microprocessors, hand tools, welders, sheet metal equipment calipers, and micrometers.
•Must be able to work with all customers and peers to understand situations and properly communicate issues and resolution.
•Must be able to use computer software including word processing, work order processing (CMMS), and ability to use Outlook mail required.
•Must be able to understand and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and functions of industry standard symbols.
•Must have a basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and variable frequency drives (VFD) operation and setup
•Must be able to work overtime during the week and on weekends, adjust schedule quickly and willing to be called in to meet operational demands to minimize downtime.
•May be required to become Qualified Fellow Employee (QFE) and forklift operator.
•Perform other duties as assigned or required.

•Continuous Improvement - (1). Demonstrated proficiency of knowledge of and application of improvement tools when called upon by Dispatch / Production (2). Driver of floor level improvements to processes and assists others with process improvements.
•Principles of Operation - (1). Operates all equipment in a safe manner, ensuring both people and equipment are kept safe from harm (2). Demonstrated proficiency of operations and equipment capability (3). Demonstrated proficiency in change-over/lot changes standards and conducts successful new starts with no quality or efficiency issues.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•High School diploma required.
•Requires 2-4 years' experience with industrial mechanical electrical or similar systems
•Alternatively, a certification or degree in a technical area pertinent to maintenance from an accredited College/University will be acceptable in lieu of 2 years previous experience.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
•Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
•Must be able to lift max of 50 lbs. unassisted, be able to lift and move equipment/parts up to 600 lbs. assisted.
•Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
