The Senior Financial Analyst has primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining an integrated decision support and analysis process to contribute to effective decision-making. Position is responsible for performing retrospective and concurrent service, cost and product analysis and performance assessments that could result in operational improvement recommendations. Accountabilities include identifying gaps in clinical, operational and financial performance through financial and cost analysis to support efficient delivery of high-quality patient care. This position will design and implement data collection tools and develop and maintain analytical reports utilizing standard report formats created in conjunction with Finance Leadership to support monitoring of clinical, operational and financial goals. The analyst will work in collaboration with both support and operational departments to investigate and respond to quality, cost, and revenue issues. Will assist leadership with annual capital and operational budget development, contract evaluation, and tracking maintenance on equipment. Position will meet regularly with leadership to review, track, and trend budget variances and help develop action plans as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Works with division and department leaders to accomplish system and department level annual goals by providing comprehensive analyses and recommendations that inform and support decision-making to improve performance.
Prepares dashboards by assimilating data from multiple sources, including data warehouses, and presents findings to multi-disciplinary groups.
Conducts comprehensive operational analysis through creation of data collection tools, maintains standardized reporting, and gathers data from other internal sources to monitor data and provides assessments. Develops ad-hoc analyses and special reports as directed.
Participates in analysis of requests for new services, procedures, products, supplies, technologies and equipment in terms of cost/benefit and financial feasibility. Maintains current and accurate equipment listing.
Prepares a 5-10 year capital project plan in coordination with Finance. Coordinates, leads, and participates in the annual budgeting process for division.
Develops strong working relationship with Finance Department. Participates with leadership in work-flow improvement and workforce redesign involving employees and physicians to ensure all employees can function at their highest competency and productivity. Teaches and engages employees in department and division operational and financial performance improvements. Participates in internal analyst group and other teams as appropriate.
Maintains competency in all organizational, department and outside agency safety standards relevant to services provided and ensures compliance. Manages processes to ensure all regulatory standards are met as well as works to prevent potential legal risk to Altru as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
