Job Description:

Job Summary

Perform diverse and complex financial, compliance, and operational internal audits of County agencies or businesses. Collaborates with other colleagues, during all phases of the audit process including developing the audit plan, audit objectives, scope, and procedures. Prepare audit programs to achieve objectives. Complete audits on time and within budget. Responsible for gathering and analyzing sufficient evidence and data to reach a conclusion on the audit objectives. Conduct interviews with County agencies to obtain understandings of internal control structures and document understandings in a clear and concise manner. Prepare audit reports and management letters. Assist with following up on the implementation of audit recommendations. Communicate results of internal audits to leadership.

This position is Grant Funded. Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Four (4) years in auditing, accounting, finance, compliance, or risk control or directly related experience is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), Institute of Internal Auditor's (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to ascertain compliance with laws, ordinances, and regulations. Ability to identify possible errors, irregularities, and illegal acts to ascertain compliance with laws, ordinances. Ability to interact with client in resolving difficult audit issues. Ability to communicate with others objectively and tactfully, both verbally and in written forms. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio. Ability to drive to audit locations and work in offsite locations. Ability to mentor junior staff and colleagues.

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
