The Wood Transmission and Distribution team provides High Voltage transmission line design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects within the sector. Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business Wood has a unique opportunity for transmission line designers keen to broaden their expertise and work on international projects. We are creating our global engineering delivery network to support major upgrade and new build projects and are seeking resources for our team in the Central Florida area. With resources currently based in the UK and India we will developing a US based team to broaden the ability to resource and support our international clients.

This role will suit someone with a significant experience in transmission line design who is keen to help in the development of our team and grow their team leadership skills. Although we are looking for a senior designer training is planned for this individual to ensure your understanding of the local design requirements of our clients and help in developing your team leadership skills.

Purpose of the Position


Technical compliance of design outputs assigned, delivered against the allocated program and budget. Identification and implementation delivery improvements in the team including targeted staff development. To develop into a local lead role for this location.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead approval activities on engineering deliverables across our team.
• Maintain and lead on OHL design staff competence assessments.
• Support work acquisition and development activities.
• Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process.
• Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions.
• Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and programme.
• Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

• Detailed experience of delivering transmission line design.
• Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.
• Fluent spoken and written English language.
• Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams.
• Must have a right to work in the US currently.

• Proven experience in working on OHL Line designs up to 400kV.
• Experience in working on Steel Lattice transmission tower lines.
• Experience of providing engineering inputs to OHL Construction activities including the planning and delivery of OHL Construction.
• Understanding of engineering management including schedule and cost management.
• Experience supporting tendering activities.
• Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagements.
