Job Responsibilities
As an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, you will assist in the management of associates in the Food & Beverage and Catering departments while carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Your specific duties in this role will include:
Assist in directing, training and mentoring all associates.
Assign duties and shifts to associates and observe performance to ensure adherence to company policies and established operating procedures.
Assist in ensuring all Owner and brand directed standards, initiatives, perspectives and programs are implemented, followed and supported.
Assist with the development of sales strategies, marketing initiatives, revenue management initiatives, promotions & special events.
Assist in developing and maintaining positive business relationships with all guests, vendors and other external partners.
Assist in conducting regular physical inspections to ensure all standards of excellence are being met.
Assist in developing and instituting new wine lists and cocktail menus for the Restaurant, Bar, In-room dining and Catering.
Assist in the development and implementation of food menus for the Restaurant, Bar, In-room dining and Catering with the Executive Chef and the Event Sales department as needed.
Answer inquiries pertaining to policies and services.
Assist in ensuring proper shift coverage including covering meal breaks and call offs.
Assist in ensuring proper cash and key control procedures are followed.
Assist in ensuring food quality and service standards are being maintained.
Assist in ensuring proper food sanitation and food handling standards are being followed.
Assist with selling, coordinating and/or directing any private or special events (on site or off site) that may occur. Detailing such an event may include number of persons expected, display space desired, menu development and scheduling with the appropriate management and staff.
Assist in coordinating the details of each catering event such as number of persons expected, display space desired, and food service schedule with the appropriate management and staff.
Assist in ensuring the proper set-up, break down and safe storage of all dining tables, service stations and bars for catering events.
Assist in ensuring banquet rooms are set up according to event order and desires of group.
Act as liaison between hotel and guest throughout catering events as needed.
Assist in ensuring proper tabulation of banquet checks and that checks are reviewed with guests.
Attend staff meetings to discuss company policies and guest complaints, and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
Monitor service by speaking with guests, reviewing guest satisfaction surveys and observing associates.
Assist in ensuring effective departmental communication through logs, daily stand up meetings and monthly department meetings.
Assist in performing a variety of administrative tasks including maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies, maintaining department budget, processing department payroll, and handling any accounting and purchasing functions.
Maintain up to date records and files.
Provide information pertaining to hours and available services of the hotel, i.e. restaurant, bar, room service.
Assist in ensuring the cleanliness of the Restaurant, Bar, In-room dining, Catering and surrounding areas.
Job Requirements
We are looking for a self-motivated Assistant Food & Beverage Manager with a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations. It is also important that you have excellent communication skills.
Specific qualifications for the role include:
One to three years’ experience; Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
Exceptional customer service skills
