Job Description

Come help us invent the future of audio and acoustic performance! Bose Corporation is seeking a talented Research Engineer with a passion for Audio and Acoustics to join our Research team. You'll join a group of Acoustics, Mechanical, Modeling and ML engineers working together to invent, develop and integrate technology that enables the future of sound reproduction. By applying your audio systems and physical acoustics know-how, you'll help to enable astonishing audio rendering experiences on out-loud and personal audio form-factors. You'll work with both internal and external parties to create new-to-the-world technologies that enhance audio experiences and you'll help champion them from lab demonstration to delivery to the world. A successful candidate for this role will have solid engineering and physics fundamentals, a passion for acoustics, intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:


  • Invent and mature acoustic and audio system technologies that deliver remarkable performance and value to our customers

  • Leverage transducers and physics expertise to expand the art of the possible

  • Design and characterize out-loud and wearable acoustic systems

  • Apply advanced analysis and modeling tools to optimize design

  • Foster internal and external research of acoustic technologies, including working with innovation with universities, startups and external independent experts

  • Provide demonstrations and support technology hand-off to product engineering

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Teamwork mindset and passion for outloud audio and acoustics

  • Deep engineering and physics fundamentals

  • 10+ years of audio product development or audio research experience

  • Experience in all aspects of loudspeaker design - modeling, prototyping, measuring, DSP tuning and critical listening

  • Strong modeling background including acoustic FEA, BEA, Lumped elements, and fluid dynamics

Additional desired skills:


  • Working knowledge of psychoacoustics

  • Audio DSP experience

  • Headphone or wearable audio design

  • Familiarity with Matlab Simulink

  • Active musician or sound engineer

Education:

  • BS in Engineering or Physics required, MS or PhD in Engineering preferred
