Overview
As a skilled SQL developer at Nok, your role encompasses a solid understanding of database principles and will be responsible for building and maintaining an efficient database architecture that supports advanced data analysis and data science projects that enhance Nok Products and Business operations.
Responsibilities
- Write and optimize in-application SQL statements.
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Profile server resource usage and optimize and tweak as necessary.
- Creating DB objects e.g., Tables, procedure, triggers, functions etc.
- Write complex SQL queries, store procedures and performance tuning/query optimization.
- Extract data from MySQL/PostgreSQL databases to generate ad hoc reports for analysis.
- Document procedures, workflows, and best practices related to data processing and modeling.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with SQL based database technologies (Oracle, SQL, MySQL, Postgres) including store procedure, functions, triggers etc.
- Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases.
- Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements.
- Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases.
- Capable of configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters as necessary.
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
- Capable of troubleshooting common database issues.
- Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
- Programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala will be a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
