Overview
IMAGING:
Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.
Positions patient for diagnostic imaging according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements.
Operates imaging equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates.
Uses computer image processing to select and optimize images.
Presents exams and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis.
Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.
Expected to perform the complete range of departmental mammographic exams from Screening to Stereotactic Biopsies.
DOCUMENTATION:
Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
Correctly identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and DOB according to department procedure.
Reviews patient questionnaire and orders to insure correct examination.
Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation.
Logs activities, gathers charging information and charges exams as required.
Competently performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function to meet MQSA standards.
Responsibilities
Graduate of accredited 2-year Radiologic Technology school or program in addition to required prerequisite training.
A minimum of six consecutive months of breast imaging experience within the last year in Mammography required. Experience in performing breast imaging examinations including breast screening, diagnostic examinations, ductograms, breast needle localizations, specimen radiographs, stereotactic (core and localization), and other related studies.
Must have good judgment, decision making and communication skills.
Registered Radiological Technologist A.R.R.T. (R) is required with current Oregon licensure.
Must meet MQSA requirements for mammographers.
Registration in ARRT (M) Mammography within six months from date of hire.
Must have current approved BLS card from the American Heart Association
Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging license.
