At the Army's National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA, SA-TECH provides the test, evaluation and training community with services that are capable of operating, maintaining and sustaining ground and airborne Threat Systems. The Threat Systems are maintained, operated and sustained to provide realistic Threat capabilities for Operational and Developmental testing and training with the U.S. Army and other military branches. This support includes engineering, configuration management, technical inspections, testing, evaluations, validation and accreditation, transportation, site surveys, transportation upload and download support, logistics, developmental support, integration, storage, maintenance, operations, and training, including items of support equipment such as system spare parts, special tools, test equipment and depot-level documentation.
We are currently hiring an Engineering/Electronics Technician III to provide support of test events on the military ranges at Fort Irwin, CA.
Our technicians perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from a supervisor or engineer as needed, performing recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity to instructions.
The basic functions of the job include (but are not limited to):
Applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer systems in support of operations and routine maintenance on Electronic Warfare (EW) and Radar systems (and their peripheral equipment).
Setting up EW and Radar systems at remote locations, operating the systems in support of test missions, and tearing down the systems once testing is complete.
Providing support of test events on military ranges which requires a knowledge of military protocol and standard operating procedures during FTX events.
Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within the scope of work.
Working in the dynamic, fast-paced environment of military test events.
Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary as most work will be accomplished outdoors on the ranges where temperatures will vary throughout the year.
Physical requirements include: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting, 10% crouching in tight spaces (inside unit vehicles), and be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds independently / or with assistance from others.
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
Due to real-world war-time environments, you must be able to operate calmly in combat simulation and maneuvering exercises.
You may be subjected to loud noises (including those made by explosive devices), live gunfire/ammunitions firing in war-time simulations, and loud noise generated from inside military vehicles during missions, while providing troop support and while working on range.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of electrical and/or mechanical system maintenance and repair experience.
3+ years of RF maintenance and repair experience desirable.
A current CDL-A license is preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience working at a government facility helpful, but not required.
Must be able to be insured through Company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of your work employment.
Ability to obtain a Forklift Operator license.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, Internet Explorer.
Ability to input data into various user interface applications, ability to save and transfer data via USB sticks, CDs, hard drives, or other storage devices, and knowledgeable with networking and component configuration set-up and troubleshooting.
Must have strong working knowledge and the ability to use hand tools and technician diagnostic equipment to include digital multimeters, power meters, power drills, wrenches, screw drivers, etc.
Work experience as a technician in any of the following fields is a plus: Mechanic, Electrician, Communication System Repairman, or Hydraulic/Pneumatic System Repairman.
Must have U.S. Citizenship and possess a current U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance (or be able to obtain one - we will sponsor) that must be maintained throughout employment.
