The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications. This includes writing clean, maintainable code, performing code reviews, and ensuring software meets performance and scalability requirements. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and leading technical discussions. The engineer will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as part of a larger architecture, engineering, development, and testing team, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for a web-based planning and simulation system in coordination with DOD teams.
Establishes software information and engineering requirements which is necessitated by the potential complexity of those software systems, which may contain millions of lines of code.
Applies the discipline of software engineering for specific technical problems and procedures, including knowledge, tools, and methods for software requirements, software design, software construction, software testing, and software maintenance tasks.
Operate within the DevSecOps framework to ensure continuous integration, continuous delivery, and enhanced security.
Relates the disciplines of software engineering to the disciplines of computer science, computer engineering, management, mathematics, project management, quality management, software ergonomics, and systems engineering.
Meet or be able to meet certification and training requirements defined in the DoD 8570.01.
Meet or be able to meet applicable security certification requirements mandated in the Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program Manual, DoD 8570.01-M change 3.
Work may take place at contractor site, Government site, or a combination of the two.
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with three years' work experience or completed Software Development Program with four years' work experience.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Proficiency with an Object-Oriented Programming Language (e.g. Java, C++, C#, etc.), and OOP design patterns
Working experience with *nix servers and shell scripting
Working experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
Working experience with Java, CoffeeScript, Node.js, Python.
Basic experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
Knowledge of tools such as Git, Maven.
Knowledge of JS frameworks (e.g. Angular 2, React, Knockout)
Strong language and writing skills
Excellent organizational skills
Clearance: Must possess a Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
