Under the direction of the supervisor, either directly or through the leadperson, set-up person, or programmer, this individual is responsible for the operation of a number of computerized, numerically controlled machines and related equipment to produce bearing components at optimum production and quality levels. Operations include but are not limited to turning, milling, deburring, buffing, tumbling, heat treat strike, etc.
Working from engineering prints, verbal instructions and a CRT display, the employee is responsible for replacing worn or broken inserts or tools, adjusting and/or correcting offsets to compensate for tool wear. This employee will be responsible for inspecting own work and as such, must be able to use and interpret a wide variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges, air gages, talysurf, optical comparator, etc.
The Operator-CNC Lathe is responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order through both periodic and proper lubrication and reporting of maintenance requirements. This individual must notify the leadperson or supervisor of maintenance issues in a timely manner.
This person must keep the work area and machine clean and will be responsible for the segregation, identification and transportation of parts in the work area. Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate production records and counts, performing unusual or experimental work and performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Basic computer skills are required for data collection as necessary.
