The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $101,404 to $126,755
PURPOSE:
Support the execution of the long term capital investment strategy through: managing the ISO certified governance process for the Projects' capital portfolio; managing project teams through the Investment Planning and Projects' governance processes; collaborating with corporate departments involved in the capital portfolio development, management and reporting (e.g., Investment Planning, Regulatory, System Planning, Accounting, Control); managing teams to provide analysis and reporting; understanding and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; improving project management competencies through the development and distribution of communications and training; attending management meetings to provide and present reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the ISO certified governance process for the Projects' capital portfolio by leading the weekly Steering Committee executive meeting to review and approve the technical and financial aspects of new projects and project changes.
Monitor and support compliance with all facets of governance including Investment Planning.
Oversee Projects' capital portfolio and provide consolidated project and program data and analysis to stakeholders (e.g., Investment Planning, Operational Excellence Reporting, operating company presidents, etc.).
Prepare capital portfolio risk analysis and proposed mitigation plans.
Support senior management planning by providing consolidated analysis and reporting of the portfolio for achievement of department, regulatory and operating company objectives.
Collaborate with corporate departments for escalations, issue resolution, process improvements and efficiency savings (e.g., Procurement, Legal, Insurance, Risk, Process & Technology, Investment Management, Finance, Regulatory).
Manage coordination of audit requests and regulatory filings on behalf of business areas.
Provide subject matter expertise on project accounting structure and budgets.
Prioritize objectives, navigate competing priorities and mediate cross functional issues.
Ensure compliance with Avangrid policies, practices and procedures.
Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to inform and influence others.
Develop and implement best-in-class training to ensure a high level of competency of project management requirements throughout the organization.
Provide energizing leadership that promotes a culture of collaboration, efficiency, innovation, and quality across business areas. Promotes continual growth and development to advance business objectives. Ensure consistent, constructive, and clear development and performance feedback mechanisms are established to build and promote a high functioning team focused on the achievement of complex business objectives.
Hire and train internal and external resources to support the growing organization.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree a plus. PMP Certification preferred.
3-5+ years practical experience
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Familiarity with FERC Accounting standards and principles preferred
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and lead a multidisciplined team responsible for providing the tools, reporting, and training needed to manage the Avangrid Capital Expenditure Portfolio
Demonstrated creative problem solving and analytical skills to address challenges and opportunities.
Knowledge of PMBOK as well as industry standards including FERC, NERC, CIP, any other applicable regulation preferred.
Knowledge in portfolio management policies and procedures and the ability to identify and implement process improvements preferred.
Experience working with senior management, other departments, and project managers to provide practical, efficient solutions to improve project and portfolio management.
Proven ability to successfully manage and influence in highly matrixed environment.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written skills including the ability to oversee and/or prepare sufficient documentation for a variety of stakeholders and executive level presentations and reporting.
Demonstrated ability using data and analytics to diagnose trends and link to business performance outcomes.
Strong knowledge of automated portfolio management and scheduling tools preferred
