Job Description As a Registered Dietitian, you will be responsible for:
Medical Nutrition Therapy: Provide medical nutrition therapy to adults at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, an internationally recognized leader in trauma care.
Interdisciplinary Rounds: Participate in teaching rounds in neuro-trauma and multi-trauma ICUs. Rotate services quarterly to maintain competence across various populations.
Research & Quality Assurance: Engage in research, evidence-based practice, and quality assurance initiatives. Lead and publish clinical research to stay at the forefront of trauma nutrition.
Patient Care Documentation: Discuss nutrition care plans with patients and families; document plans and education electronically.
Teamwork: Contribute to teamwork, cooperate with peers, and attend staff meetings to achieve department goals.
Education & Training: Provide education and training to healthcare team members and dietetic interns, advancing their development.
Continuing Education: Attend in-service training, continuing education, and external workshops to maintain licensure and integrate evidence into practice.
Weekend & On-Call Rotation: Participate in weekend and on-call rotations, averaging 4-5 weekends annually.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
Certification: Registered by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
Licensure: Current licensure in Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
Experience: Preferred four years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian in a hospital, including completion of UMMC initial review.
Specialization: Preferred completion of a Specialty Fellowship Program or Specialty Certification in Nutrition Support.
Training: Up-to-date on all mandatory classes/training.
Knowledge: Proficiency in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology as they relate to nutrition for clinical decision-making.
