Responsibilities:
Operate company truck
Delivery of finished product to customer/ pick up of raw material at the mills
Responsible for securing a safe & legal load
Perform related computer functions (scanning, billing, finalizing etc.)
Complete daily trip sheet and/ or electronic logs as applicable and ensure that all associated records are completed and submitted
Maintains logs, driver trip reports, vehicle condition reports, related records, maintenance and repairs to vehicles
Maintains eligibility for commercial drivers license and complies with applicable Department of Transportation regulations as well as local traffic laws governing operation of vehicle
Responsible for the safe operation of vehicle on public roadways and customer & supplier locations
Conducts themselves with a professional demeanor at all times, to project an appropriate corporate image in all dealings with customers and the general public
On occasions may be responsible for picking up customer payments after delivery has been made
To meet operational needs, you may be required to work up to 14 hours per day in accordance with Ontario law
Perform all other duties as assigned
PHYSCIAL REQURIMENTS
Sit for long periods of time while driving for up to 75% of workday
Maintain visual awareness for up to 100% of the workday while driving, working on trailers and being at plants
Control and operation of a flatbed truck for up to 75% of the work day
Exposure to noise for up to 75% of the work day while driving
Perform static and dynamic lifting- occasionally lifting of chains, binders, bunks, dunnage, posts at shoulder height; moderate lifting of these knuckle and bench height. Total weight is between 20 to 25 pounds
Occasionally carrying 20 to 25 pounds of chain, for up to a 40 feet distance
Occasionally dragging or moving chains; binders and slider kits with weight up to 20 to 25 pounds
Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders at Samuel facilities and customers to get on and off trailers
Occasionally reaching forward, overhead and/or bent over for chains
Occasionally bending forward and squatting
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, experience, certifications, licences or special skills):
CDL license
Knowledge of Load securement requirements (NSC Standard 10)
Knowledge of Hours of Service Regulations
Subject to completion of all pre-employment screenings
Years of service
2-3+ years proven of commercial driving experience (48’/53/ tractor-trailer combinations)
6 months – 1 + year of flatbed /rolltite experience required
Multi axle steel flatbed hauling experience required
Knowledgeable and experienced in load securement (strapping, chaining, tarping)
