Wood is seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrument Designer specializing in Instrumentation and Controls for a long-term project at a client site in Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate will support all aspects of electrical and instrumentation design and layout, with a comprehensive understanding of discipline theories and principles. This role requires frequent movement, including site surveys involving stairs and ladders.
Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.
Local candidates are preferred, as there is no per diem or relocation available.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Design and Layout: Perform tasks with extensive knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria.
Project Support: Assist the discipline engineering lead in maintaining budget, schedule, and adherence to project scope.
Coordination: Work with on-site personnel (Wood and Client) and other Wood offices for management of change request, technical scope of work execution and on-going site questions.
Meetings and Reporting: Attend project and client meetings, assign design tasks, monitor production, perform technical audits, and support project reporting.
Standards Review: Ensure project standards and documents align with overall project objectives and industry standards (NEC, ANSI/NEMA, etc).
Collaboration: Work closely with project design and engineering staff to maintain the integrity of project deliverables.
Training and Development: Participate in technical training and continuously improve technical skills.
Guidance: Provide support and guidance to Instrument Designers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: 2-year Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Control Systems, or equivalent training/experience.
Experience: 10+ years of industry experience.
Physical Requirements: Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders, and frequent walking around the facility.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (2D CAD, 3D modeling tools), database applications, and knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ethical standards, commitment to safety, and excellent communication skills.
Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment, demonstrating integrity, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
