Suncoast Post Tension, Ltd. is an established post tension and rebar manufacturing company that has been in business for over 30 years. We supply construction related materials to builders from one of our nine facilities in the US.
We are seeking a highly motivated Controls and Electrical Engineer with excellent communication skills to become a member of our Houston, Texas team.
Responsibilities
R esponsible for design, build, and troubleshooting of electrical control or robotic systems for machinery and equipment, including setting up, developing, following up, programming, maintaining and restoring the complete automation process of the activities in the various plants in order to guarantee optimal functioning of the company manufacturing equipment. Detecting and analyzing needs, problems and/or defects related to automation, in order to optimize the existing systems.
Design, configure, and program various instrumentation and control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic controllers (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Develop a plan to diagnose, identify, upgrade and decommission equipment in advanced phases of its life-cycle.
Develop and deploy Operational Technology (OT) networks.
Provides PLC, VFD and HMI programming field and remote support.
Troubleshoot fundamental electric circuits counting 480VAC, 120VAC, and 24VDC circuits.
Skilled in utilizing electrical and mechanical hand instruments (i.e., screwdriver, pound, voltmeter, etc.) and control devices (i.e., bore press, band saw).
Integrated control and information solutions using Allen-Bradley, & Rockwell Automation
Selects hardware and formulates engineering design based on project requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate instrumentation and control systems into overall process solutions, ensuring seamless communication and functionality.
Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for instrumentation projects, providing expertise to optimize system performance and reliability.
Develop detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, control narratives, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and other technical documentation according to Suncoast standards and best practices.
Participate in on-site commissioning and troubleshooting activities to ensure successful system implementation.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to instrumentation and controls engineering.
Designs systems of electrical and automated controls for machines and processes
Lead projects, mentor & train other controls engineers on the team.
Reviews system design for compliance with engineering best practices, appropriate regulations and codes, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications
Formulates and prepare and conduct factory acceptance test plans for completed systems.
Assists engineering manager with the below: resolving engineering design and testing problems, perform design review of other engineers.
Provides project management assistance for control systems.
Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems on
Manage projects and oversee support staff who may be assigned to such projects.
Travel: Up to 30% travel required.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation/Controls.
Required background:
Seven or more years proven experience working as an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment
Strong proficiency in designing and programming DCS, PLC, RMI and SCADA systems.
Solid experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens HMIs including Ignition, RSView32, and FactoryTalk Studio SE
Solid understanding of process control fundamentals, including PID control loops, field instrumentation, and process optimization techniques
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations governing instrumentation and control systems.
Lean Manufacturing methodology knowledge and experience a plus
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents including P&IDs, sequence of operations, technical specifications, etc.
Effectively communicate and present information to top management, customers, and employees
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Additional Information
Salary Range : $ 108,000.00 - $134,000.00 per year
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant internal and external experience, knowledge, skills, scope of job, geographical location or other factors permitted by law
