About this opportunity: Cenovus is looking for an Area Business Team Technical Manager at our Lima refinery. The main purpose for the Area Business Team Technical Manager is to provide leadership and strategic planning to deliver Area Business Team results. The person best suited for this position will have a strong technical background, the ability to analyze and understand performance data, and the ability to lead and influence others to achieve the goals of the business. They will work closely with the Operations and Maintenance leads to drive continuous improvement in the business.

What you'll do:
Coordinates technical resources in the area in alignment with business team priorities and managing workflows of key workstreams with the goal of improving reliability.
Drives a sense of ownership through the organization by using key elements of our accountability model (See it, Own it, Solve it, Do it).
Identify resource needs to ensure adequate resource ability or turnaround planning, HAZOP recommendations, and RCFAs and assigns staff and priority to action items.
Coordinates technical staff to mitigate Process Safety and Environmental Risk.
Defines unit performance metrics and reports to ensure efficient operations (catalyst reviews, unit KPI reviews).
Identifies areas of continuous improvement and develops plans for addressing the opportunity.
Participates in bi-directional feedback to functional leads on personnel performance regarding personnel career and formal performance review planning.
Leads and mentors others via personnel coaching.
Who you are:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical field related to petroleum refining, or equivalent experience.
12+ years of experience with a combination of refinery and leadership
Experience leading cross functional teams
Preferred:
Professional Engineering License is an asset.
Experience performing strategic planning to drive continuous improvement.
Experience with SAP or other business enterprise software preferred.
Good PC skills and proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
