The VDC Framing and Drywall Specialist is responsible for project level virtual planning, coordination, and modeling of framing and drywall self-perform work as it relates to all building systems within McCarthy's Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) Processes. The VDC Framing and Drywall Specialist reports to the VDC Manager or next highest position and supports the delivery of digital information for layout and construction to our project teams. This role can be based out of our Southern CA offices, including; Newport Beach, San Diego, or Los Angeles, or our Las Vegas, NV office. Key Responsibilities
Promote a culture of virtual building among all internal and external stakeholders
Support three or more projects concurrently with oversight from VDC Manager – Digital Craft
Assist in the development of self-perform support plans, resource allocation, budgets, schedules, and their overall integration into the VDC plan
Develop and maintain self-perform model and drawing tracking logs for all projects
Prioritize and schedule own workload as applicable
Actively contribute to project BIM Coordination meetings and provide real-time solutions
Learn, develop, and execute new workflows to maximize efficiency across activities
Willingness to follow existing workflows and chain of custody related to digital information transfer
Model Content Creation and Management
Produce self-perform models for framing and drywall model-based layout that provide coordinated geometry to support all other interfacing building systems
Coordinate self-perform model content and drawings against all interfacing and connected building systems (Exterior Enclosure, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural Steel, Miscellaneous Metals, Medical Gases/Systems, etc.)
Create new and/or validate existing geolocated Master Control Model (MCM) based on Architectural and Structural alignment with Civil coordinates and project survey information
On-site Field Execution
Lead layout training related to digital content, setup, and field use of Robotic Total Station
Troubleshoot self-perform technical issues related to Robotic Total Station and digital content
Understand workflows related to layout robotics (Dusty, HP SitePrint, etc.)
Understand workflows related to stud rolling/printing (Howick)
Qualifications
Thorough understanding of firestopping/fireproofing systems and their relationship with metal framing and drywall components
Thorough understanding of STC ratings and their relationship with metal framing and drywall components
5+ years of layout and foreman experience in metal framing and drywall
Thorough understanding of drywall and framing fundamental ESR reports a plus
Fundamental understanding of framing and drywall building codes
Strong overall knowledge of building construction sequencing and building systems
Experience working and coordinating with construction trades across all scopes of work
Proficient in Structsoft/MWF software a plus
Proficient in model authoring software such as Revit and Tekla a plus
Familiarity with BIM Coordination software such as Revizto and Navisworks
Proficient in use of Robotic Total Station for layout activities
Understanding of CPM scheduling and its interaction with VDC activities
Process and detail oriented, self-motivated, timely, and accountable to commitments/deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Some regional travel required
Salary range is $75,000-90,000 based on experience
