Position Summary: . The Library Specialist participates in reference services, tutorial creation, library instruction, special projects, and other duties as assigned. The position reports to the Instruction Coordinator and Reference Librarian.
Duties and Responsibilities:
65% Provide individual reference service and group information literacy instruction, both in-person and online. Reference services are available in-person and via phone, email, text, chat, and appointment. In support of instruction services, collaborate with the Instruction Coordinator and Reference Librarian on various projects to support the Libraries' instruction program
30% Participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of the library's web services, including LibGuides, FAQs, and online tutorials, using various applications, including LibApps, PowerPoint, Camtasia, Snagit, Zoom, and related software. Seek out and implement appropriate emerging technologies
5% Maintain knowledge of current professional library practices, including reference and teaching practices. Collaborate on special projects, such as collection development

Required Qualifications: Must have completed 9 credit hours of their MLS/MIS/MLIS Degree from an ALA-accredited college or university.

Skills/Abilities: Willingness and ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and other patrons with varying skill levels, interest levels, and different lived experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency with English. Ability to perform highly detailed work. Ability to use Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to troubleshoot routine issues with technology.
Preferred Knowledge of academic library instruction and reference practices. Knowledge of and ability to learn web and media design tools, software, and systems, including discovery search systems, Springshare products, Microsoft Office, Camtasia, SnagIt, Zoom, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
