The Program Manager will oversee and coordinate the development and execution of multiple plastic injection molding projects, ensuring that all activities are performed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role will involve working closely with customers, engineering teams, production, and supply chain to manage product lifecycle stages from concept to production and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution: Lead injection mold tooling and automation builds and validation. Project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for multiple plastic injection molding programs. Conduct design reviews
Customer Management: Determine, quote, and present solutions to support unique customer manufacturing requests. Support Manufacturing with customer complaint investigations and assist with corrective action implementation. Assist sales and marketing group with generating proposals. Travel to meet with customers and suppliers as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support engineers in a matrix environment. Work with production, and supply chain teams to drive project timelines and ensure manufacturability. Support continuous improvement projects.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks to minimize impact on project delivery and cost.
Timeline Management: Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Product Development: Oversee new product development processes, managing design reviews, tooling development, and production trials. Conduct design reviews of injection mold tooling and specialized equipment/automation.
Process Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives across the project lifecycle to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
Tooling Coordination: Coordinate the design, development, and maintenance of injection molds with toolmakers and engineers.
Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality department to ensure all products meet specified quality standards before delivery. May be asked to perform the duties of quality engineering if necessary.
Reporting: Regularly report project status, performance metrics, and any issues to senior management. May be asked to hold/attend training or informational meetings for the team.
Key Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project or program management in a plastic injection molding or manufacturing environment.
Strong experience in managing cross-functional teams and leading projects from conception through to production.
Knowledge of plastic materials, mold design, and injection molding processes is a plus but not mandatory.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA).
Strong understanding of CAD tools and engineering drawings.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP or similar project management certification.
Experience working in medical device industries.
Experience with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc.) and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
