Join Moseley Technical Services and support a leading space company as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Work across the full design cycle to create advanced structural and mechanical subsystems for aerospace applications. This role is available in multiple states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the entire design cycle of structural and mechanical subsystems, from conceptual design and trade studies to structural analysis, testing, and qualification.
Create 3D models, component drawings, assembly drawings, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Document the assembly and testing of development and flight hardware.
Support subsystem-level testing, including planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.
Develop component specifications and oversee supplier management.
Provide manufacturing and production support, including new equipment and tooling development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce high-quality aerospace hardware.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
8+ years of experience in Design Engineering, preferably in aerospace or related fields.
Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
Expertise in material selection, compatibility, and manufacturing techniques.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software and strong mechanical design and integration skills.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
U.S. Citizenship or national status, U.S. permanent residency (Green Card), or lawful admission as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to independently drive engineering projects from concept to released designs and flight hardware.
Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or later and Windchill 10.
Proficiency in analysis tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, Optistruct, LS-Dyna, and Abaqus.
Knowledge of metallic and composite design and analysis considerations.
Familiarity with rapid development techniques and systems engineering practices.
Experience in the fabrication of composite primary structures for aerospace.
Demonstrated success in transitioning manufacturing processes to production environments.
