Staff Radiochemist (Multiple Positions)🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States📁Research📅Oct 04, 2024 Post Date📅98396 Requisition #Stanford University is seeking a Physical Science Research Professional 2 to apply comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a scientific discipline or related technology in laboratories engaged in research in the physical sciences. Typically apply thorough knowledge and technical expertise to research projects and lab procedures.

Duties include:


  • Perform experimental design, provide technical leadership and coordination of laboratory activities and conceptualizing and constructing prototypes in one or more disciplines, including electricity, chemistry, mechanics, particle physics, and vacuum technology.

  • Contribute to the management, design, engineering, construction, and/or installation phases of a major research project.

  • Develop, modify, or enhance software and hardware in support of engineering or research work.

  • Provide technical leadership for a major installation, schedule work crews, and order materials, tooling, and supplies.

  • Develop, test, and evaluate new methods and protocols for use in research activities; document activities and produce system documentation.

  • Provide primary technical expertise for clean rooms, mechanical assembly, and systems design and maintenance.

  • Direct lab staff in highly skilled lab techniques.

  • Modify and adapt standard protocols and procedures.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • Expertise in laboratory procedures and analytical chemistry techniques required (thin layer chromatography, GC, HPLC, preparative HPLC, Radiometric Detectors, endotoxin, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals required.

  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements, aseptic process (cleanroom environment), and equipment qualification required.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in a related scientific field, or combination of education and relevant experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Extensive experience applying multidisciplinary scientific principles and practices to perform experimental design and coordinate laboratory activity.

  • In-depth understanding and experience with analysis and interpretation of research data, and the ability to recognize and resolve irregularities and invalid results.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to organize data and develop models allowing for integration and display of data.

  • Extensive experience with scientific software applications, systems, or programs relevant for the job.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership and coordinate major installation, materials, tooling, supplies, and scheduling of work crews; ability to work with scientific or research staff in developing/supporting technical procedures.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and to contribute to the development of the research plan.

  • Efficient in the use of MS Office Suite required.

  • Ability to be detail-oriented, accountable, patient, organized, and work in a team environment with minimum supervision required.

  • Strong technical writing skills required.

  • Excellent organizational skills required.

  • Ability to work various shifts and weekends required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use the telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds.

  • Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts.

  • Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls.

  • Must have correctable vision to perform duties of the job.

  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise>80dB TWA, chemicals, asbestos and heavy metals. May work in confined spaces; work at heights and temperature extremes.

  • May work extended or unusual work hours based on research and project requirements.

The expected pay range for this position is $105,446 to $122,309 annually.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
