Department Summary


The Mathematics Department at UNT is a comprehensive doctoral degree-granting department with 25 tenure-track and tenured faculty members, 29 lecturers and adjuncts, and 53 graduate students. Tenured and tenure-track faculty members pursue research in mathematics. Many are internationally renowned in their areas of expertise. Mathematics Department instructors teach graduate students, math majors, science and engineering majors, specialized service math classes for students in business and education, and university core math classes required for all UNT students. At every level, Mathematics Department members are dedicated to providing their students with effective, high-quality instruction. The Mathematics Department is known and has been recognized for its contributions to the university's educational mission and for its deep commitment to student success.


UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.



Position Overview


The Department of Mathematics seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester-to-semester, and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.


The anticipated need is for adjunct instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to, generally in-person instruction on our Frisco campus of mathematics courses such as: developmental math, algebra, college math for business and economics, business calculus, beginning statistics, precalculus, calculus I, calculus II, and linear algebra. This posting is for instructors interested in teaching at UNT's new branch campus in Frisco, Texas, the nation's fastest growing city.



Minimum Qualifications


For Developmental Mathematics Courses - Bachelor's degree in mathematics


For credit-bearing courses - Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field including 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics (MATH) or statistics (STAT) prefixed courses



Preferred Qualifications


* PhD in mathematics or closely related field
* Experience with online learning platforms such as: Canvas, MyMathlab, Webassign, ALEKS
* Experience teaching developmental mathematics courses
