University of Miami's Cooperative Institute of Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) has an opportunity for a Research Associate I laboratory technician to work with NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory's Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystem Division in Miami, Florida.
This RA-I will be responsible for the nutrient-related chemical oceanography analysis, including mixing reagents, creating standards, maintaining laboratory chemicals, records, and equipment, ordering needed materials, and entering and QA/QCing data. They will also be trained to analyze nutrient samples taken at sea during oceanographic research cruises and returned to the lab.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical oceanography or a related field. The work will require lab analysis of ocean samples, communication and planning with researchers, provision of reagents, standards and needed chemicals, QA/QC data entry and maintenance of lab records. The successful candidate should have some experience in an environmental lab setting. Additional minimum experience includes calibrating lab equipment,
maintaining meticulous records and standard operating procedures, and an understanding of nutrient dynamics in coastal and offshore waters. The incumbent must demonstrate capability in analysis with proficiency testing and assist in the completion of routine statistical tests necessary for data quality assessments and flagging data.
