The Surgery department has an exciting opportunity for a full time Post Doctoral Associate position. The incumbent performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. required in Cancer Biology, Immunology/Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Department Specific Functions
The Dosch laboratory is focused on uncovering therapeutic strategies that enhance the immune response in colorectal malignancies. We are seeking candidates that are passionate about scientific discovery and have a strict adherence to the ethics and principles of responsible research, rigor, and reproducibility. Prospective post-doctoral associates will be performing a variety of cell-based and in vivo experiments in immunology and molecular biology and should be familiar with basic techniques in these areas. Experience in flow cytometry is strongly preferred. There is a focus on animal surgery in the laboratory and prospective candidates will be expected to learn these skills. We are seeking highly motivated post-doctoral associates who are eager to publish and obtain their own independent funding, with the goal of obtaining a NIH career development award at the conclusion of their tenure. A competitive applicant for this position will have expertise in:
Cell culture and cell isolation.
CRISPR and genomic knockdown/knockout cell models.
Flow cytometry.
Western blot and co-immunoprecipitation.
RNA preparation from both in vitro and in vivo samples, quantitative PCR.
Plasmid design, vector cloning, plasmid DNA preparation.
Familiarity with basic bioinformatics and statistics.
Small animal surgery and breeding.
Grant writing, abstract submission and presentation, preparation of manuscript figures and text.
