WHAT YOU'LL DO



The Director of Brand Strategy is the creative leader responsible for the strategic development and management of the corporate brand in all its external and internal manifestations. This role is particularly focused on creating and delivering effective, engaging messaging through a variety of channels for all key stakeholders, and owns the verbal and visual style of our brand.


The Director of Brand Strategy is a crucial internal liaison and advocate, working cross-functionally with our executive team, internal business leaders, HR, and marketing to translate company objectives into distinctive, appealing brand designs and messages. This includes how our unique brand story translates across various dimensions-creative, voice, media, and experience.


The Director plays a pivotal role in creating strategic plans to support our go-to-market motions and strengthen our company culture. This role leads an internal team responsible for brand management, graphic design, and communications to optimize our brand equity and maximize brand consistency in all communication efforts.



Day-To-Day Responsibilities:



This role presents a unique opportunity for a dynamic, creative individual to harness our company's tremendous energy and shape a strong brand identity that creates new value.

  • Create and maintain the company's visual and verbal global brand standards, which are suited to our varied stakeholders and translatable to various media and channels.
  • Supervise a cross-functional team of graphic designers, copywriters, social-media experts, photographers/videographers, agency partners, and project managers in strategically developing brand style, messaging, and deliverables.
  • Lead and review the work of the creative and content teams for all web, print, and digital marketing assets.
  • Spearhead and manage referenceable brand guidelines, ensuring they are simple enough to be followed and thorough enough to encompass all required use cases.
  • Prioritize work and resources across projects based on short- and long-term needs and develop schedules by collaborating with business leaders, designers, and copywriters.
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with the creative team, maintaining strategic thinking to develop innovative and actionable initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Meet budget requirements by forecasting and managing expenses.
  • Analyze brand tracking, market trends, consumer needs, and the competitor landscape to ensure our brand remains fresh, distinct, engaging, and valued.
  • Direct the brand strategy for sub-brands, new lines of business, and portfolio additions; partner with appropriate leads to define or reinforce brand positioning, value propositions, and brand style for new offerings to prepare them for market release.
  • Develop and apply definitive messaging frameworks and briefs, ensuring a consistent narrative and infusing our brand voice in all corporate and marketing communications.
  • Engage with executive and senior leadership to develop key messaging that supports our brand purpose, mission, and values; create presentations, speeches, and other employee-related communications (internal newsletter, town hall meetings, other events) as needed.
  • Design and implement new strategies that cultivate our values and ESG/DEI/sustainability initiatives to engage our employees and boost our culture internally and our reputation externally.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR




Must-Haves:


  • Ten years of relevant experience, with five or more years as a brand strategy and/or creative director in a corporate setting.
  • Proven ability to develop successful brand concepts and strategic plans.
  • Proficiency in leading a team of diverse, talented creatives.
  • Strong creative vision with an eye on meeting business objectives.


  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new business domain knowledge to brand strategy.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple projects successfully and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and consensus-building skills - ability to work with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts in plain, compelling, concise language.
  • B.A. or M.A. in art, marketing, liberal arts, media and communications, or related field.


Education and/or Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Art, Liberal Arts, Media and Communications, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree in one of these fields is preferred and can strengthen candidacy.
