SUMMARY: Responsible for providing daily on-site representation at the various shipyards during new construction projects to ensure the highest of quality and compliance with both the contract and specifications.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as the operations SME for various new construction projects supporting management team objectives. Participate in the inspection and commissioning of project machinery including the layout of various systems, startup and delivery of the vessels, development of operational manuals and guidelines. Coordinate furnished equipment with the shipyard while recommending resolution for the design as well as identifying project issues and obstacles. Partner with the new construction management team and key stakeholders to assist in the identification of operational maintenance, repair coordination and in service access of equipment. Provide recommendations to enhance the construction and development of project vessels. Ensure projects are delivered timely, within the scope of the contract specifications and applicable international and/or flag state requirements. Maintain documentation and communicate status to operations leadership. Review, advise and recommend actions on any in service engineering and operations related matters, but not limited to, change orders, equipment/material selection, vessel construction problems, warranty failures. Support the technical correction and settlement of warranty issues in the operating fleet. Lead and review plans, drawings and technical specifications as part of the formal Plan Approval process. Develop a working relationship with external stakeholders such as any OFE vendors, classification societies and regulatory bodies (ex. USCG). Develop onboard maintenance and repair specifications and implement an automated maintenance and inventory system for use onboard the vessel. Review and report on new or emergent technologies, manufacturers and systems that may be required or that may benefit Crowley or our customers on future new projects. May directly and/or indirectly supervise employees and/or teams responsible for vessel operations and crew. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in marine engineering; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. USCG Unlimited Chief Engineer license for diesel propulsion.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of related engineering or new construction experience. Naval architecture, shipyard and/or classification society experience is a plus.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel; proficiency utilizing project management software such as Primavera and/or Microsoft Project.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including the ability to convey technical information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to function effectively with or as part of a team. Ability to indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope, including the ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of project designing, scheduling, estimating, planning and inspecting. Ability to effectively manage and execute negotiations with vendors/suppliers. Ability to identify existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact in the organization. Ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization. Knowledge of marine engineering, ship electrical and propulsion systems, new vessel construction, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge and experience with LNG-fueled vessels, oil/chemical tankers, and containerships. Demonstrated experience with various vessel types, including ships, ATBs, tugs, PSV/OSVs, and smaller work boats - including their operation.

OTHER: Must be willing and capable of domestic and international travel, as directed - up to 50%. Must hold a valid US passport and TWIC.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
