Position Summary:


The Payment Processor is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of payments and the reconciliation of checks. The incumbent ensures the integrity of financial transactions and compliance with the Credit Union's policies and regulatory standards. The Payment Processor is a resource to internal stakeholders to assist with questions and problem solving of departmental handled functions.



Primary Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Responsible for processing financial transactions accurately, balancing daily and meeting security guidelines.

  • Collects, opens, verifies and posts payments in core and additional lending systems.

  • Researches and resolves complex member inquiries concerning mortgage loans, installment loans or credit card payments.

  • Assists the Accounting department in balancing general ledger accounts.

  • Collaborates with EFT department to reconcile provisional credit and extracted checks.

  • Process foreign item checks received from branches

  • Posts trustee collections payments from bankruptcy attorneys. Process reversals from 3rd party collections vendor.

  • Reconciles ATM and ITM deposited checks.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of Everwise.




Knowledge/Skills:



  • Must be able to use a 10 key calculator.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Must be able to take initiative and prioritize tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).


Minimum Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous work experience in payment processing, customer service or related field.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles

  • Financial institution experience preferred.
