We are seeking a full-time Electronics Assembler (3rd Shift) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling electronic components, subassemblies and systems and testing electronic function of assemblies, components, subassemblies and systems using test equipment and procedures.
Essential Functions
Read shop orders, follow production work instruction and sample assemblies and receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device using hand or power tools
Tend machines or use hand tools and power tools to crimp, stake, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, cement, press fit or perform similar operation to secure parts in place and perform operator level preventive maintenance on machines
Mount assembled components such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits and sockets on chassis, panel or printed circuit board
Connect component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points using soldering, welding, thermocompression or related bonding procedures
Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets
Assemble and attach functional and cosmetic hardware such as caps, clamps and knobs to assemblies using hand tools and power tools
Perform intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, coating, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping and color-coding parts and assemblies
Tend machines which press or shape component parts and perform operator level preventive maintenance on machines
Tend automatic assembly equipment which joins components and parts and perform operator level preventive maintenance on machines
Operate standard test equipment and conduct functional, operational, environmental and life tests on product
Connect unit to test instrument, such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, ammeter, resistance bridge or oscilloscope and turn switch
Read instrument dial or scope that indicates resistance, capacitance, continuity and wave pattern or defect such as short or current leakage and compare instrument reading with standard and reject defective units, perform operator level preventive maintenance on test equipment, per GMP requirements, and record type/quantity of defects
Notify management of any conditions felt as being undesirable or nonconforming to product specification and any procedures that cannot be performed as documented
Maintain acceptable organization/cleanliness in work area, identify/label Material Drops (for incoming material), clear unnecessary items regularly, identify all material properly, maintain orderly work center condition at end of shift (ex. totes covered, work bench lights off, etc.)
Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts
Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift/move up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility
Requires the ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours
Associates operating machinery must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail
Compliance with HRD-003 (Garmin's Attendance Policy)
Compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts, in the performance of essential functions
Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility
Requires the ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours
Associates operating machinery must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
2+ years assembly experience
Soldering skills (certificate desirable)
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing techniques to install Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through-hole Technology (THT) components
Previous knowledge/use of IPC-610, Acceptance of Electronic Assemblies, workmanship standards
