Chemical/Mechanical Engineer Co-op/Intern



The Co-op Student Engineer is responsible for providing support to assigned department by designing and executing engineering projects.



Where will you work:




Onsite at Uncle Sam (
7250 LA-44, Convent, LA 70723)



Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.



Term



May12 to August 22, 2025


Full time Co-Op/Internship. 36-40 hours a week on site.



What will you do?



  • Assist with projects


  • Prepareproject specifications, quotation requests, material requests, and project equipment and services.


  • Perform duties as assigned.





What do you need for this role?



  • Junior level or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.


  • Preferred classes taken: Thermodynamics and Material Balance


  • 2.75 GPA or higher


  • Completed minerals processing class before start of internship/co-op.


  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.


  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required.


  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.


  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement learned process, procedures or software.


  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills, including presentation skills.


  • Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers, suppliers and vendors.


  • Maintain a clean work environment and comply with all safety and environmental policies.


  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.


  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


  • Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
