The American Job Centers (AJCs) assist customers in achieving self-sufficient, sustainable employment on a career path toward continued growth opportunities. The Career Advisor is responsible for administering the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funded programs and services to include funding for postsecondary training opportunities, paid work experience, On-the-Job Training, and apprenticeships, and training programs administered to justice-involved individuals. This position requires collaboration with secondary schools, postsecondary institutions, employers and community agencies to access services on behalf of our program participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit future Adult, Dislocated Worker and Youth participants who have barriers to employment, conduct orientation sessions explaining the WIOA programs and services, assessment process, participant responsibilities, follow-up services, and submit referrals to partner programs on behalf of customers.
Determine eligibility for program participants and counsel with participants on labor market information for their chosen career path to identify training needs of our customers.
Administer and / or schedule appropriate assessments, orientations, and workshops as needed.
Collaborate with the customer on the development of an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) for each participant's training and employment goals.
Collect all paperwork on WIOA participants, develop electronic files, and route necessary paperwork to the appropriate training provider.
Co-enroll Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) as required.
Make documented contact as appropriate with each participant during program participation to review the progress in meeting the objectives of the IEP, making changes if necessary.
Enter documentation of all contacts into VOS database within the ten-day timeliness policy.
Maintain and update electronic files of WIOA participants as needed.
Maintain consistent contact with participants to communicate progress and barriers with goals in the IEP.
Exit program participants upon completion of IEP goals.
Attend community functions to provide information on workforce services.
Submit monthly work experience timesheets and other reports as required on a timely basis.
Complete follow-up services for 12 months post exit from the WIOA programs.
Complete any corrective actions as required from monitoring to ensure all documentation is of high quality and meets federal, state, and local policies.
Participate in webinars and continuing education regarding WIOA policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Travel between counties to enroll customers and attend marketing events as necessary. Sedentary: Desk work; standard office settings.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two years case management/social work or secondary school/higher education experience.
Proficient to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
Able to engage customers with multiple employment barriers
Strong attention to detail; ability to complete work timely with minimal errors
Strong organization and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to follow directions and complete assignments by following written instruction.
Minimum starting pay is $33,500 annually ($17.18 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum pay of $41,900.
