How you can make a bigger difference:


The Staten Island Children's Community Residence (SICCR) provides Child, Teen, and Family services to youth ages 8-14 years old who are struggling with emotional health diagnoses, mental illness, sadness, worry, and loss. Our staff works with the adolescents in our residential treatment setting, assisting them with forging healthy relationships, helping them to learn & transition back to their homes.


The Sr. Direct Support Professional (Sr DSP) works with children and adolescents in SICCR and is responsible for the supervision, care and skill building related to the youth's individual service and treatment plans. The Sr DSP serves as a positive role model while providing therapeutic support, trauma informed care and supervision.




  • Develop, supervise and implement therapeutic recreational activities; Accompany and supervise youth on recreational trips and activities, as well as drive, escort and supervise the youth to medical, behavioral health providers, school, socialization or other required appointments

  • May be called upon to work one on one with a youth who is displaying significant stress or assist with management of crisis related to the safety and care of the clients; Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary therapeutic team by implementing culturally affirming and trauma informed interventions and skill building as outlined in treatment and service planning

  • Liaise with families, schools, healthcare providers, hospitals, criminal justice, and other community agencies in order to provide appropriate care and supervision of youth; Assist in orienting families/resources of the youth to the services provided by and in collaboration with the program

  • Providing crisis intervention

  • Additional duties as assigned




Qualifications



The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:


  • A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required

  • A current, valid clean Driver's license is required for this position and throughout all DSP positions

  • Prior experience in a residential setting, with a similar population

  • Availability to work evenings & weekends
