Job Summary
The Product Design Engineer is essential in supporting both the design and manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, functionality, and compliance with industry standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with the manufacturing, engineering, product management and customers to drive product innovation and resolve technical challenges.
Job Responsibilities
Product Design:
Lead the design and development of new products, ensuring they meet customer demand and industry standards.
Abide by Design for Manufacturing principles to ensure manufacturability.
Create conceptual 3D models using Inventor.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Conduct feasibility studies and testing to validate product performance.
Manufacturing Support:
Work closely with Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to ensure efficient processes for new and existing processes.
Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing deviations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
Provide technical support to customers to resolve product quality issues, instilling confidence in our commitment to quality and safety.
Conduct root cause analyses and identify corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Product Approvals:
Oversee the approval process for new and existing products.
Maintain existing approvals to ensure they do not lapse.
Maintain clear documentation and records of product approvals for audit and compliance purposes.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
3+ years of experience in product design and manufacturing
Basic knowledge of structural engineering principles; statics, materials (steel & concrete), etc.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works).
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control.
Ability to read and interpret engineering standards or drawings.
Problem-solving skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
