SUMMARY
The lead teacher must develop an overall curriculum for her classroom, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care; develops lessons based on each childs capabilities and works to meet their emotional, physical and social needs; develops partnerships with parent to engage and encourage parent participation in the program. The lead teacher works closely with co-workers assigned to her and answers to the daycares director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
Ensure a safe, healthy, clean environment for the children.
On an on-going basis, plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child.
Oversee all activities in the classroom.
Conduct family conferences and maintain communication with families.
Work with co-workers assigned to your classroom
Completes child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents.
Attend monthly team member meetings
Meet the requirements of center accreditations: DHS/ITERS/ECERS/QRS
Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.
Other duties as assigned
Responsible for:
Greeting children and parents upon arrival and departure each day.
Completing requests for all supplies to center director
Signing children in and out on In/Out Sheet
Completing accident/illness forms as necessary
Following procedure and forms for reporting suspected child abuse
Completing weekly plans and turn into center director the prior week
Ensuring parents receive adequate information about their childs experiences at the center through daily contacts and written notes.
Completing all medication forms as required
Sanitizing all equipment and toys as scheduled
Monthly, assist in conducting fire and tornado drills and record
Maintaining clean and safe environment for children which includes their work displayed and a cheerful atmosphere
Supervise and interact with children during free play time and gym/outside time
Conduct necessary housekeeping duties after each meal and end of the day; and when assigned be responsible for afternoon snack clean-up
Respects and understands all individuals; and maintains confidentiality in dealing with other personnel and childrens issues/files
Participating in staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional reading
SUPERVISORY SKILLS
This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Able to work effectively with multiple staff members, balance and prioritize multiple requests.
Sensitive to the needs of young children and familiar with early childhood theory and practice.
Handling parents concerns and questions in a professional manner
Professional development; Complete DHS required annual trainings and one item under professional development for QRS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
6+ months experience with children
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple notices and instructions
