JOB OVERVIEWGBH in Boston is seeking a dynamic Podcast Producer/Host with exceptional production skills. The idealcandidate is a fierce storyteller with a strong track record of creating and launching successful narrative podcastswith an eye for intriguing story angles, an affection for characters, and a curiosity for new ideas. TheProducer/Host thrives in collaborative team environments, often juggling multiple projects.The Producer/Host will spearhead 1-2 original narrative series annually, driving every stage of showdevelopment from pitching to sound design. The role leverages deep reporting experience and sharp editorialjudgment to craft compelling stories with fearless creativity. In addition, the Producer/Host will also advise and
collaborate on various GBH podcasts, thriving under deadlines while working independently and in teams.The Producer/Host’s keen eye for intriguing story angles, fascination with characters, and curiosity for new ideaswill be essential.The position requires a minimum of five years of audio reporting and production experience, as well as proficiency inwork shopping pitches, sourcing, guest booking, and audio editing. The Producer/Host will create an engagingsound design, contribute to growing our podcast audiences and play a key role in developing and executingFundraising strategies.Occasional field reporting may be required. This position reports to the Managing Producer of Podcasts.   • Conceptualize and develop innovative podcast ideas under the direction of the Managing Producer of

  • Podcasts to build a new slate of narrative non-fiction shows for GBH News.

  • Produce 1-2 original narrative podcast series annually, overseeing all aspects from pre-production to launch

  • Work closely with the Managing Producer on end-to-end production of green-lit shows, including budgeting, hiring freelance crew, script writing, editing, scheduling, and launch coordination.

  • Script, record, edit, and sound design engaging podcast episodes using industry-standard software such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Descript, Rev, or others.

  • Field produce interviews outside the studio, operating portable recording equipment and conducting on-site interviews.

  • Coordinate with legal and standards teams to ensure all content adheres to broadcast regulations and GBH's editorial standards.

  • Manage final delivery and upload to the RSS feed, including writing episode descriptions.

  • Provide creative feedback, editorial guidance, and production support for the current slate of GBH podcasts in development.

  • Collaborate with the business development team to conduct market research and create compelling pitch materials for sponsorship, licensing, and potential co-production partners.

  • Collaborate with sponsorship teams to identify funding opportunities.

  • Support the planning and execution of podcast fundraising events.

  • Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to promote podcasts and grow audience engagement.

  • Contribute to communication and education initiatives that enable the production of compelling podcast content at GBH.

  • A creative problem solver who is flexible when production pivots.

  • Understanding of journalistic ethics and best practices.

  • Ability to oversee production from start to finish, managing priorities, schedules, travel, and tight deadlines

  • Willingness to be on-mic and on-camera

  • Proven ability to learn and adapt as markets and audience behaviors shift

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of producing and editing high-quality audio content, preferably with reporting and editorial experience

  • Experience successfully creating, hosting, and producing original narrative podcast series.

  • Experience leading productions remotely, in the field, and in post-production.
