Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Center Technician:

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the data center's critical infrastructure systems, supporting both colocation customers and building tenants. The Data Center Technician will investigate internal alerts and follow established escalation procedures to ensure compliance with high-level service and security requirements. This role offers the opportunity to establish efficiencies and best practices enterprise-wide, with potential for growth over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor Critical Facilities: Oversee the Critical Facilities Monitoring System and provide reactive, notification, and escalation services as needed to address alarm events.
Customer Support: Deliver top-tier physical and remote support for local and international colocation customers in a 24/7/365 facility, including fiber/copper cross-connects and equipment troubleshooting.
Ticketing System Management: Monitor and assist with customer support requests through a web-based ticketing system, handling services such as access requests, remote hand troubleshooting, order processing, delivery logistics, and general support.
Sales Order Execution: Execute sales orders and prepare facilities to support new customer environments in line with ongoing sales activities.
Facility Walkthroughs: Conduct hourly walkthroughs of the facility to visually verify and collect readings from all critical electrical/mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal facility conditions.
Security Monitoring: Assist with physical security monitoring using cameras, access badges, door alarms, and notifications.
Rack & Stack: Perform rack and stack tasks for customer equipment as required.
Operational Tasks: Carry out routine operational tasks including equipment handling, repairs, troubleshooting, processing interconnection circuit orders, and general site support.
Package Management: Manage customer package deliveries through receiving, handling, storing, and shipping.
Client Communication: Respond to client calls, emails, and other inquiries professionally and promptly.
Position Requirements and Desired Skills:
Education: High School Diploma required; industry-related certifications or an associate degree in a technical field strongly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in data center operations or related technical fields; 2 years of customer service experience required.
Technical Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of data center cooling and power infrastructure is a plus.
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with supervisors and local site teams.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
Operate with a 'safety first' mindset at all times, following all current emergency procedures set by the client and property.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
