The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is soliciting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. A significant record of academic accomplishment and the potential to attract independent research funding are important considerations for these positions. The Miami Project offers excellent basic science, translational, and clinical research programs directed toward study of central and peripheral nervous system damage and development of novel treatments to promote functional recovery. Applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and centers throughout the university to advance multi-disciplinary approaches.
The successful applicants (PhD and/or MD) will be members of this Interdisciplinary Center of Excellence with access to numerous state-of-the-art core facilities. The candidates should have a strong interest in pursuing pre-clinical research focused on developing and testing novel strategies to improve functional outcomes following spinal cord injury. Investigators using systems neuroscience, optogenetics, chemogenetics, computational, and/or regenerative approaches are of particular interest, but investigators using other approaches are also encouraged to apply. Prior work in spinal cord injury is not required. The Miami Project has a long history of recruiting scientists with diverse backgrounds and enabling them to become internationally recognized spinal cord injury researchers.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a productive team of basic and clinical scientists investigating CNS injury in a state-of the-art research center located in a beautiful city. Start-up packages, salaries and benefits are commensurate with experience. Those interested should email their Curriculum Vitae, names and contact information for three references, and a brief summary of their research interests and goals to: Erika Suazo at exc277@med.miami.edu. Include "Faculty search" in the subject line. Applications should be received by December 17, 2021.
